The Sawzall, the Trees and Grandma’s Dream Playground
Clearing space for tree swings, flowers, and magical moments at grandma & poppop’s house.
When we first moved out here, the trees in our yard became one of those “we’ll get to it later” projects. You know the type — the ones you walk past every single day, mutter something under your breath, and then keep right on walking.
But every time I looked at those trees, I pictured something different. I imagined our grandkids running wild in a magical little playground at grandma & poppop’s house — tree swings swaying in the breeze, flowers tucked around the bases to keep the bugs away, and shaded spots where little imaginations could take off.
Instead, all I saw were stubborn, overgrown branches daring me to try.

This is what determination (and the right tool) looks like
Enter the Sawzall
Now, I’m not saying the Milwaukee Sawzall is magic… but when you’re staring down trees that have been winning for years, you need more than a pair of loppers. (As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.)
The moment that blade hit wood, it was like slicing through butter (okay, maybe cold butter — but butter all the same). Piece by piece, those old branches finally came down. And slowly, what had looked like a lost cause started to feel like the playground I’d been picturing all along.
The Lesson in the Trees
That day reminded me of something important: sometimes it’s not about working harder — it’s about having the right tool and the vision to see what’s possible.
We all have “trees” in our lives — projects we avoid, challenges we walk past, dreams we keep putting off. But when we finally decide to face them head-on, armed with the right tool and a little grit, everything changes.
Would I Recommend It?
Absolutely. If you’ve got fence posts, trees, barn repairs, or any project you’ve been avoiding, a Sawzall is worth its weight in gold. Ours has earned its keep many times over.
And maybe those trees weren’t just teaching me about yardwork. They were reminding me that creating magical moments for the people you love often means rolling up your sleeves, grabbing the right tool, and finally making the vision real.
✨ P.S. The grandkids don’t know it yet, but that new playground space? It’s going to be their kingdom. Swings, flowers, and all. And if you want to see the video version of this little victory, it’s over on my Amazon Storefront [coming soon].
