Why I Believe Everyone Should Have Their Own Website

After everything I’ve learned over the years about writing online, blogging, affiliate links, and social media, one thing has become very clear to me.

I believe everyone should have their own website.

I didn’t always think that way. For a long time, I thought social media was enough. It felt easy to post on Facebook, share things with people, and stay connected without having to worry about building anything else.

But the more time I spent online, the more I realized something important.

When you only use social media, you don’t really own anything.

Your posts are on someone else’s platform.
Your audience is on someone else’s platform.
And the rules can change at any time.

I’ve seen posts disappear, accounts get restricted, and reach go up and down without any real explanation. It doesn’t matter how much effort you put into something if the platform decides not to show it.

That’s what made me start looking into building my own website.

At first, I didn’t know what I was doing. I had to learn about domains, hosting, WordPress, and things I had never even heard of before. It felt confusing in the beginning, but once I understood how it worked, I realized something.

A website is different.

When you have your own site, your writing stays there.
Your posts don’t depend on an algorithm.
Your work doesn’t disappear because someone changes the rules.

It becomes something you actually own.

For me, that matters more now than it ever did before.

Life has taught me that things can change fast. Plans can fall apart. Things you thought were solid can disappear overnight.

Having a website may seem like a small thing, but to me it represents something bigger.

It’s a place where I can write, share what I’m learning, and build something that belongs to me, no matter what direction life takes.

That’s why I believe everyone should have their own website, even if it’s just a simple one.

Not because you have to be a tech person.
Not because you have to make money with it.
But because having something that is yours is worth more than most people realize.
