One Girl, One Fence Line, and a South Dakota Wind Straight from Antarctica

My bonus daughter may be sweet as cotton candy, but she’s tougher than old boots and hotter than a branding iron when it comes to work ethic.
And don’t be fooled by that sweetness—she’s got fire in her bones that’ll burn hell into the next universe if it gets in her way.

Today, she sent me a video. (cuz I asked, lol)

No fanfare. No “look what I did.”
Just her, out in the pasture, pounding in fence posts, stretching wire tight, and clipping it all down—solo.

No backup crew. No camera crew. Just one woman, a line of stubborn T-posts, and every bit of knowledge her daddy passed down.

The Video (Coming Soon)

I’ll be uploading the full video soon to my YouTube Channel—with a voiceover that tells the story behind what you’re seeing.

Because this isn’t just about fencing.
It’s about legacy. Grit. Knowing what needs to be done and showing up with the sleeves rolled.

And that South Dakota wind? It was blowing so cold it may as well have come from Antarctica.
But she didn’t flinch. She just layered up, grabbed her tools, and got to work.

🐄 Why Fencing Matters

If you’ve ever raised cattle, you know—if the fence isn’t tight, the cows are gone.
Heads down, noses to the grass, they’ll walk for miles and end up in North Dakota if you don’t keep ‘em contained.

And those winter deer? They blaze through wire like it’s not even there, leaving fences loose and sagging by spring.

So when the thaw comes, there’s work to do. And this girl—my girl—gets it done.

🧰 Tools of the Trade: What She Used

This wasn’t just a “make do” job—this was a proper solo fencing setup.
If you’re tackling ranch work on your own (or raising the next generation who is), here’s what she used:

Post Pounder – For getting those T-posts in deep without tipping or twisting (not the exact one but equivalent to get the job done)
Wire Stretcher/Splicer – Because saggy wire won’t hold a herd
T-Post Clips + Clip Tool – Locks down wire securely on every post
Bucket Organizer – For hauling tools while walking the line
Fencing Gloves – Because your hands deserve better than barbed wire blisters

Links used are to our local store. At this time I am not an affiliate but hope to be so I added this disclaimer.

❄️ Cold Weather Gear That Stands Up to the Job

Did I mention it was freezing? That wind had an attitude.
And yet—she showed up layered and ready.

🛍️ Gear That Works as Hard as She Does

I only recommend what actually works—because out here, there’s no room for gear that flakes, breaks, or quits halfway through the job.

These are the tools and clothing we’ve come to trust.

🧥 Insulated Ranch Coat
🧢 Lined Hat or Headband
🩳 Loose-Fit Weathered Biberall – Because jeans alone ain’t enough in this kind of cold

Whether you’re ranching, fencing, or just trying to make it to spring, these layers are worth every penny.

💛 In Closing

That video wasn’t just about fencing—it was about who she is.

Strong. Capable. Rooted in legacy and unafraid to get dirty for what matters.

There’s a fire in her bones—and let me tell you, the world better stay out of her way.
